America Series: From the Road2013 – Present The reliance of the automobile has both influenced and hindered the development of the United States of America, it is pivotal in the foundation of what is an adolescent nation. The dependency of the automobile in the United States of America has been the most devastating influence on urban planning, many urban planners and sociologists have commented on the downfall of the American rural migration due to that of the motorcar, it is a reflection on the American car industry and the shifts of economic progression and vision in a post word war II affluence. Eighty percent of Americas development occurred in the second half of the 20th Century (Kunstler 1994), such rapid development causes significant problems in how development fails to meet the need of society. This series uses the vessel of the automobile as the constant, the road as the easel, the windows of the automobile as a canvas for a commentary on the automobiles role historically forming and in turn devastating the ideals of American society. | Untitled #03 | Driving | Untitled #01 | Untitled #09 | Untitled #15 | Untitled #12 | Untitled #07 | Untitled #06 | Untitled #05 | Untitled #11 | Untitled #04 (diptych) | Untitled #08 | Untitled #02 | Untitled #10 |
